How does fractional laser work?
The laser creates tiny columns in the skin while leaving the surrounding tissue intact, so the skin repairs itself and builds new collagen. With each session the texture improves and scars become shallower.
It treats
- Acne scars and other scars.
- Large pores and rough texture.
- Fine lines and early wrinkles.
- Stretch marks.
- Some types of pigmentation, as assessed by the doctor.
What to expect afterwards
Redness and a mild sunburn-like feeling for the first two days, then light peeling over a few days. You will need a moisturiser recommended by the doctor, regular sunscreen and no direct sun.
Time between sessions
Usually 4 to 6 weeks, giving the skin enough time to build new collagen.
Frequently asked questions
Is fractional laser painful?
We apply a numbing cream before the session, so it feels like warmth and tolerable prickling.
Is it suitable for darker skin?
It can be, with adjusted settings and skin preparation before the sessions to lower the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation. The doctor assesses this at your consultation.
When will I see results?
Skin feels smoother a few weeks after the first session, and the clearest results show once the sessions are complete and collagen keeps building.
